Steve was the oldest son of Mary (Cheha) Sivich-Kovich. His father died when he was a little over a year old, leaving him and his younger brother Tommy to grow up without knowing their biological father. Steve was raised in Rainer Valley, WA during the Great Depression and could recall memories of waiting in line for weekly food rations of bread and hotdogs with his mother at a young age.…
